What is an audit log?
Definition
TechnologyAudit log
An audit log is a record of who accessed or changed what, and when, kept so that access can be checked later.
Why it matters for schools
When staff can read student AI chats, a log of every read makes that access accountable and lets the school answer a family's question about who saw what. Logging every view is one of the design rules for reviewing student AI use without surveillance.
In Nexus
Nexus records who opened each class conversation in an append-only log that school administrators can read.
