Work check

See how the work was made.

Nexus shows teachers how homework was actually done, whether students can explain it, and where their class is struggling. In every subject.

The Work check follows the assignment.

Use the browser extension for Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on Word for the web (OneDrive and SharePoint, including Teams assignments), Canvas, PlusPortals, Schoology, Blackbaud and Google Classroom text answers.

Students and teachers use their school accounts: Microsoft 365 or Google. Students turn work in where they always do.

A visible label. A clear boundary.

The Work check records writing only in assignments the student linked, only on the school’s approved sites, only while the on-screen “recording” label shows. It never records other browsing, passwords, or anything outside linked assignments.

The on-screen “recording” label shows when capture is active. Writing is not recorded while capture is paused.

From written work to a useful conversation

See how the work was made

Replay the writing sessions, pasted blocks and rewrites. See the evidence behind each label.

Hear it in their words

Explain your work asks 3 short questions after turning in. Optional: the teacher turns it on or off.

Talk with the right students

Use Steady drafting, Worth a look or Talk with student to guide a conversation. Labels, never scores.

Three labels, with the evidence behind them.

Each piece of work has a replay of writing sessions, pasted blocks and rewrites. The teacher sees one label per student and the evidence behind it.

Signals start a conversation; they are not proof.

Steady drafting

Review the sessions, pastes and rewrites behind the label.

Worth a look

Open the evidence and replay before deciding what to ask.

Talk with student

Ask the student about their work. A label is a prompt for a conversation.

Replay the work, from first words to final version.

See writing sessions, pasted blocks and rewrites on one timeline. A pasted block is evidence to review in context.

Explain your work: the teacher’s choice.

After turning in, the student answers 3 short questions about their own work, in their own words. The teacher sees what’s on paper next to what the student can explain.

Explain your work is optional. The teacher turns it on or off. Responses are AI-rated: review before acting.

Cole wrote · AP Biology

“Above 400 µmol/m²/s, light is no longer the limiting factor; Rubisco activity and CO₂ levels limit the rate of photosynthesis.”

Nexus asks

“You wrote that Rubisco limited the rate. What does Rubisco do, and why would it matter here?”

Cole answers

“idk, a protein? i’m not really sure what that part means”

The teacher sees what needs a conversation.

In this demo, Cole cannot explain the key idea in his own report, and that paragraph was pasted in. The teacher sees “Talk with student.”

Sample class, demo data. This is an example, not a measured accuracy result.

Labels, never scores.

Steady drafting. Worth a look. Talk with student.

Signals start a conversation; they are not proof. Review the evidence and speak with the student before acting.

Google Docs is not supported yet.

Google Docs isn't supported by the extension yet. For now, students write in Word for the web or on their school's platform.

Student privacy, with clear boundaries

The Work check records writing only in assignments the student linked, only on the school’s approved sites, only while the on-screen “recording” label shows. It never records other browsing, passwords, or anything outside linked assignments.

Student chats are not shown to teachers.

School AI calls are routed with provider data collection denied, and student work is not used to train AI models.
