What is a learning mode?
Definition
NexusLearning mode
In Nexus, a learning mode is a per-class setting (Hints, Guided, or Full answer with critique) that decides how much help the AI gives. Students cannot change it.
Why it matters for schools
Consumer study modes are defaults a student can leave. In Common Sense Media's testing, ChatGPT's Study mode offered "Show me the answer" in 43-90% of responses. A learning mode is a school rule rather than a default, set by the teacher for the class.
Choosing one
Hints for practice on new skills, Guided for multi-step work, and Full answer with critique for checking finished work after an attempt. Before any pilot, we check Hints and Guided with real models. Read choosing a learning mode.
