Nexus and Microsoft Teams
An honest page for Microsoft schools. Nexus signs people in with Google today, Microsoft sign-in is not available yet, and a connection for Teams class materials is in progress.
[ WHERE IT STANDS ]
Status
Students can paste an assignment into a class chat today, and the class learning mode applies to the help they get. Nexus labels pasted text as pasted and does not fetch the source link.
a connection that brings class materials from Microsoft Teams for Education into a Nexus class. It has not run against a school's real Microsoft Teams yet, and it is not part of the next release.
Sign-in comes first for Microsoft schools
Nexus uses Google sign-in in the school edition. Microsoft sign-in, SAML, Clever and ClassLink are not available yet, so pilot accounts need Google accounts. If that blocks your school, tell us: we decide what to build next from what schools ask for.
Copilot is already in Microsoft 365. What Nexus adds
Students 13 and older can use Copilot Chat with Microsoft 365 Education once IT turns it on, and teachers can set AI rules per assignment and see aggregated activity. Nexus adds models from several providers your school approves, a learning mode on every class chat that students cannot change, and teacher review of class chats with notice to students. Read Microsoft Copilot for students and Nexus.
What to plan with your IT team
- Whether pilot students and staff can use Google accounts for Nexus.
- Whether Copilot Chat is on for students, and for which age groups.
- Which Teams classes join the pilot, and the Nexus class each one maps to.
- Your filter's AI category and the Nexus allow-list.
