What is single sign-on (SSO)?
Definition
TechnologySingle sign-on
Single sign-on (SSO) lets students and staff sign in to many apps with one school account, such as a Google or Microsoft account.
Why it matters for schools
SSO reduces passwords and helps IT turn access off when someone leaves. Schools use sign-in with Google or Microsoft accounts, and some use SAML or rostering services such as Clever and ClassLink. Many districts expect SSO before approving a tool.
In Nexus
Nexus uses Google sign-in and asks only for OpenID, email and profile. Microsoft sign-in, SAML, Clever and ClassLink are not available in the school edition yet.
