Student AI agreement
When I use AI for schoolwork at [School], I agree to:
- Try the work myself first, and ask AI for help with the part I am stuck on.
- Follow each assignment's AI level and my class's AI rules.
- Use AI to understand, not to replace my thinking: hints, explanations and feedback on my own work.
- Check what AI tells me. AI makes mistakes and can invent sources.
- Say when and how I used AI if the assignment asks.
- Never paste passwords, other people's private information, or anything my teacher has asked me not to share.
- Remember who can see my school AI chats, and ask if I am unsure.
- Talk to a teacher, counselor or another adult I trust if something serious is going on. AI is not a counselor.
Examples to discuss
- Allowed on a Level 1 assignment: "Here is my thesis. What is unclear about it?"
- Not allowed on a Level 1 assignment: "Write my introduction paragraph."
- Allowed: "I got x = 11. Can you help me check it without telling me if it's right?"
- Not allowed: pasting a quiz question during a no-AI quiz.
Disclosure line
When an assignment asks, I add: "I used [tool] for [what], on [which part]. The [answers/writing/code] are my own."

Questions and answers
What is a student AI agreement?
A short set of commitments students sign about how they will use AI for schoolwork, often with a disclosure line for assignments.
Should students sign an AI agreement?
Many schools find that discussing and signing one makes the rules concrete. Pair it with the school's policy and each course's syllabus statement.
How should students disclose AI use?
In one or two sentences: which tool, what it was used for, and what the student did themselves.
