Assigned activities or open help

A Brisk Boost activity is something a teacher assigns: the teacher decides the task, and the student works inside it. That is a good fit for a lesson the teacher has planned around AI.

Nexus covers the rest of the week. A student stuck on a problem set at 9 p.m. opens a chat in that class, and the class learning mode decides how much help they get. No teacher has to build anything first, and the student cannot turn the mode off.

Visibility and hours

Brisk lets teachers see all Boost chats and lets admins limit Boost to school hours. Nexus lets teachers review class chats, tells students when a chat can be reviewed, and records who opened each class conversation. Personal chats are not shown to teachers.

A fair test of both

Run one assignment through each product from a student account:

  1. An assigned activity. In Brisk, send a Boost activity for tonight's reading. In Nexus, set the class to Guided and add an instruction such as "Ask for the student's own summary before explaining."
  2. An unplanned question. Ask about a different assignment the teacher did not plan for. In Brisk, see what a student can reach without a new activity. In Nexus, ask in the class chat and check that the class mode still applies.
  3. The shortcut. Ask each one to write the answer. Note what the student gets and what the teacher can see afterward.

Record the date and settings, and keep the failures. Our pilot evaluation rubric scores the results.

When Brisk may be the better fit

  • You mainly want to save teachers time inside the tools they already use.
  • You want students to use AI only inside activities a teacher assigns.
  • Your school runs Schoology. Nexus has no Schoology connection.

When Nexus may be the better fit

  • You want students to have approved help on any assignment, not only assigned activities.
  • You want your school to choose which models each class can use.
  • You want a log of every staff read of a class chat.
