Choose and compare models
Choose approved models, compare explanations, and add an optional combined answer.
These instructions describe the school web app. Models, actions and class access depend on school setup. Native app controls and release availability can differ.
Choose from the approved catalog#
The school configures providers and approves models. A teacher can narrow the options for a class. The model picker reflects those choices; a model advertised by a provider may not be enabled for your workspace.
Ask one model#
Select a model, write the question, and send it. Include your attempt when asking for learning help. The class policy applies to the conversation.
Compare several responses#
Comparison is a student setting, not a class permission. It is available when your school administrator enables more than one model and you turn on model comparison in your own preferences. Select two or three approved models. Send the question once to receive separate responses. Read each explanation, check any cited material, and choose the response you want to continue before sending a follow-up. The other responses stay available to read. A teacher does not turn comparison on or off for a class.
Comparison can help you notice a clearer explanation or a disagreement. It does not verify truth by consensus. You still need to check the work.
Add an optional combined answer#
In the school web app, use Choose aggregator model after selecting at least two models. Choose an approved model to combine the finished responses. It may be one of the models you already selected. Leave Aggregator: Off selected when you only want the separate answers.
The combined answer appears as an additional response labeled Combined. It uses the approved, finished answers and follows the same class help rules and response review. It needs at least two successful responses; it cannot combine answers that were withheld or never finished. Teachers can review the combined answer alongside the original prompt and separate responses.
A combined answer adds provider usage. It can also repeat a mistake from its source answers, so review the original explanations and sources. It is not a substitute for your attempt or your teacher's judgment.
Understand the cost#
Each selected model creates its own request and provider usage. Combining responses adds another generation and the applicable school review. The school catalog shows available input and output pricing where configured. Longer context, longer answers, and more models can increase the cost of a question.
Read usage and costs before setting a class-wide model policy. Visualizing an already completed answer does not itself make another model request; see the chat guide.
If a model or response is missing#
Check the selected class. A teacher may have removed the model, the school may not have enabled the provider, or an allowance may limit the request. A failed or stopped model is not a completed answer. Do not enter a private provider key in a student conversation to work around a restriction.
